SYLVANER GRAND CRU ZOTZENBERG 2022

"From 60+-year-old vines, the 2022 Sylvaner Grand Cru Zotzenberg opens with a deep and complex, beautifully refined and mineral bouquet that gives a unique expression of Alsace’s one and only grand cru site for Sylvaner. Full-bodied and rich yet also refined on the palate, with fine tannins and smooth acidity, this is a highly elegant and persistently saline Zotzenberg with a long, saline, well-balanced finish. This is a quiet but impressive Sylvaner. 13.5% stated alcohol. Diam cork stopper. Tasted at the domaine in Mittelbergheim in November 2024."

PINOT NOIR LES TERRES ROUGES 2020

"Boeckel's 2020 Pinot Noir Les Terres Rouges comes from the heart of the grand cru Zotzenberg, more precisely from the Les Terres Rouges parcel (or Rotland in Alsatian), where the vines are over 50 years old and rooted in marl-limestone soils with iron oxides. This Pinot Noir from massal selections opens with a deep, very intense, concentrated and fleshy bouquet of ripe dark fruits, yellow fruits, mushrooms, game and crushed black pepper. Macerated with one-third whole clusters for two weeks and then aged in 20% new barrels for 20 months, this is a full-bodied and rich, very elegant, fresh and generous yet also refined and balanced Pinot Noir with fully ripe fruit, lots of fine and spicy tannins and a powerful, warming finish. The firmly structured wine has not just power and intensity but a characteristic terroir freshness thanks to the iron-rich soil and an altitude above 200 meters. This is impressive and characterful, with muscles and strength. Tasted at the domaine in November 2024."

PINOT NOIR GRAND CRU KIRCHBERG DE BARR 2022

"Based on 11-year-old vines planted with Burgundian genetics (massal selections) at the bottom of the slope, Boeckel’s 2022 Pinot Noir Grand Cru Kirchberg de Barr opens with a deep, clear, fresh, intense, very elegant and generous bouquet of perfectly ripe fruits (mainly cherries) but also black berries and even raspberries intertwined with fine toast aromas. Silky textured and full of finesse, this is a wide and elegant, well-balanced and playful Pinot Noir with silky tannins and fine, perfectly ripe limestone acidity. The wine is beautifully intense and charming, and its toasty notes intermingle perfectly well with the generous but elegant fruit. The finish is long, intense, saline and tight but transparent enough to deliver a lot of joy already at this early stage. Quite open already, there is no reduction here. It was made with 100% destemmed grapes that were macerated for 12 days and aged in 20% new oak barrels for 14 months. Bottled in December 2023 and for sale since June 2024. Tasted at the domaine in November 2024."
