" For years, 'K' had to serve as the designation for Kirchberg de Barr, now finally a Grand Cru. The soil is yellow limestone on this steep site; the Boeckels' plot is at the lower part of the slope. There is a slight reduction on the nose and subtle savoriness. The Kirchberg de Barr was famed for dry Gewurztraminer but is now home to fine Pinot Noir. This has an uncommon urgency, a kind of raw wilderness, a bold drive with fruit that still has to calm down in bottle. Underneath, however, is excellent finesse, an incredible streak of acidity and elegant tannin on a slender body. Leave this to come into its own."
"From the lower part of the cru and cultivated on yellow-colored limestone, the 2021 Pinot Noir K opens with a pure yet intensely
aromatic, floral and slightly volatile bouquet with red fruit aromas. Silky, fresh and round on the palate, this is an intense and dense Pinot that was aged in barrels for 10 months."
